No comic this week either. After some thought I have begun to consider "rebooting" the series. Some of the things I want to do cannot really be done in the current drawing style or story-telling methods, plus I want to spend some time redesigning the characters (i.e.: Cammy was supposed to look more like a teenager than a toddler). I also want to practice new ways of drawing and bringing those drawings into the computer. Still, I may not reboot the seires yet, and just take a sabatical from it for a bit and then come back with an entirely different look... still, probably no new issues until next year most likely. |
Commentary: I really like the way the first panel came out. Nice angle and use of shading. Camille's hands and tail in the second panel came out well too, with the quirky little motion lines. I recently started reading Pibgorn by Brooke McEldowney and have been inspired to break away from immitating FreeFall. I was very tempted to start making this comic in color instead of the faux noir I have going on, but maybe I'll let that wait until the reboot of the series. I am going to try to step up the level of drawing quality and imagination soon, and perhaps drop the whole, six panels with a joke at the end format. Camille's arrogance and independent streak surface rather dramatically in this issue, plus we get to see that Camille can be a bit of a jerk. This is also the first time we see Camille talking to her tail, who she regards as her closest confident. Don't judge her too harshly on that; she's never really had any friends being that most people who meet her want to poke and probe her with needles and perform tests on her. The two triangle shaped panels at the end might be confusing to some. Perhaps I should have used two thin panels instead. |
